Forest School
At Tarves Primary School and Nursery, every pupil, from Primary 1 to Primary 7 takes part in Forest School sessions every two weeks. These sessions will run throughout our school year, so children can experience all seasons, weather and changes in our local environment, across a range of settings in Tarves.
There is no bad weather, only bad clothing choices! is something we want to instil in our pupils, particularly at a time where children are spending more time on electronic devices. We want to bring back a love of play and appreciation for our natural environment. We will be outside in all weathers, with the exception, of course, of extreme weather conditions which deem it unsafe to do so.
Activities will include den building, tree climbing, mud kitchen, using tools and fire etc. At the heart of these sessions, across all ages and stages, will be child led play, building resilience and boosting self-esteem in our pupils. The children will learn to work as part of a team while developing a love for the natural world around us.
We are very excited to take our pupils on this journey for the 2021-2022 academic year!
